Week 4 | Introduction to Basic Composition and Blending Mode
This week we dive into the topic of the introduction of basic composition. Lecturer explained to us poster design is to deliver the key message to the focal point.
"Focal point naturally settle on the important pieces of your design first."
There are 5 ways to create the focal point:
1. Colour contrast
2. Scale
3. Isolation
4. Pointing
5. Framing
In this lecture, we learnt some example for basic composition:
1. Focal Point
2. Scale & Hierarchy
3. Balance the elements
4. White Space
5. Rule of Thirds
6. Golden Ratio
During the tutorial section, we did some simple blending mode exercise in the class.
In the first step, I copy the steam and paste in this photo, apply the blending mode to screen.
After then, I adjusted the contrast of the photo using level adjustment.
Next, to adjust the overall brightness, apply gradient to adjust the photo vibrance.
So, here's the final outcome for this photo.
Next, we continue doing the next exercise.
Paste it inside the sky photo.
Use the multiply blending mode to blend in the pictures.
Then use the level and apply clipping mask to make it blend gently into the pictures.
Apply the gradient into the final pictures.
Apply soft light to this picture to adjust the entire brightness of the photo.
